A new series is here! So excited to share this with you guys! So here’s the plan, I want to write about my favorite spots to eat while I am  in Portland, as well as when I travel. I will be highlighting a new restaurant, bistro, cafe, or coffee shop once a month. I am so excited to photograph and write about my favorite spots to enjoy great food and coffee. Hope you are as excited as I am about this!

I met my siblings at the Alberta Barista location. We swung by Petit for a baguette for dinner, it was a quick in-and-out, but I wanted to linger and taste the insane looking pastries in the case. The cool thing about petit it that it has a formal restaurant, as well as the grab-and-go pastry and coffee bar. I was able to finally return to Petit for a real lunch, it didn’t disappoint. I was able to get a table quickly, and the food and service were both exceptional. Keep this in mind: French Onion Soup.

Name: Petit Provence | French Bistro & Bakery

Location: NE Alberta st, Portland, OR

What I ate: Monte cristo and French onion soup

Atmosphere: Chic

Bread rating: 3

Pastry rating: 3

Favorite things: I love the decor in this cafe, its so very chic, it reminds me of The Grand Cafe in Oxford.

Waiting for a table: I have been here when the wait has been a couple of hours, but this past Saturday, I got a table in 15 minutes. But, if you’re just wanting a pastry, you can always just grab and go from the pastry counter.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on the progress of my cookbook. No, I haven’t given up and thrown all known files into the trash bin. It’s just been a slooowwww process.
The book is now in its final editing stages!!!! Woot! Still not giving you a release date, because well, you know how I am about keeping dates.
I am SO SO excited to show you my book!!!

recipe: brie and apple baguettes

My lovely readers!

I am back stateside! I am so excited to show you what I have learned about food durning my trip, and also share my picture with you!

To kick off the string of French food, that I assure you is coming, is a
baguette sandwich. My sister and I had this on a small town right outside Omaha beach. We decided to recreate it tonight for dinner. And I must say, we nailed it. We were only missing the crash of the French seaside.

Also, we added chicken to one of the sandwiches, you can see it on top. You can add meat, or leave it just cheese and apple!

1 large baguette, cut in half, or 2 small
1 granny smith apple, thinly sliced
1/2 large wedge brie, sliced
A handful baby spinach
Butter, softened
Course ground mustard

Slice the baguettes down the middle. Spread one side of the opened baguette with mustard, and the other with butter.
Arrange a thin layer of spinach inside each baguette. Add a layer of apples on top of the spinach, followed by the brie, finish with another layer of apple slices.

I am super stoked to show you my pictures from my trip! It was an amazing trip! Inspirational with the foods I ate and the sights I saw.

This is me right after scraping 8 inches of powder off my car. At times like these I picture myself in Hawaii drinking guava juice between swims in the ocean. Surprisingly, it doesn’t help.

These last few days have been a little crazy. You know that 16 inches of snow I said we were expecting? Well it came, but only by half. But still, 8 inches of snow at the end of March?! Come on!

It really is beautiful, even if it does make my 45 minute commute to work take a hour and a half.

Portland gets little snow. You can tell just by watching people. Today I watched a man build a snow man on his porch, dress it, and pose for a picture with it. This is a full grown man I’m talking about.
